|With 7,000 surgeries under their belt, the International Children’s Heart Foundation (ICHF) is more than equipped to provide the medical labor and expertise necessary for saving lives and training medical professionals across Iraq. Dr. William Novick and his international surgical teams began saving lives and training medical professionals in developing countries back in 1994, and now we’ve teamed up to create a medical infrastructure throughout Iraq capable of operating on every Iraqi child in need of heart surgery.
|Living Light International (LLI) is our cultural compass in Iraq. Without their guidance and know-how, navigating the red tape and negotiating lifesaving collaboration here would be impossible. LLI’s Founder and President, Nadwa Qaragholi, puts her incredible connections and networking skills to use each day on behalf of Iraqi kids, negotiating new frontiers and new programs for the expansion and improvement of pediatric cardiac care across Iraq.|
|We have worked with Dr. Kirk Milhoan and For Hearts & Souls (FHAS) since early in our time in Iraq, first as a cardiologist consultant and then in the context of our Remedy Missions to the cities of Fallujah and Tikrit. Dr. Kirk is among the world’s most traveled and experienced echocardiographers, having diagnosed, triaged, and treated children from Mongolia, Nepal, Kosovo, Papua-New Guinea, and across Iraq.|
Anadolu Medical Center (AMC) is an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Located in Istanbul, AMC is one of Turkey’s premier hospitals with a world-class pediatric cardiac surgeon, Dr. Sertaç Çiçek. We introduced the leadership of AMC to Iraq’s bursting backlog of children waiting for surgery in 2008. Since then, AMC has performed more than forty operations for us that were too complicated to be done in Iraq and has negotiated a direct arrangement with the Iraqi Ministry of Health in Baghdad to help up to twenty additional children per month.
