With your student organization or a group of friends, sell store-bought or hand-made pinwheels to students and faculty to raise money for Iraqi children in desperate need of heart surgery. We suggest $5-10.
EXTRA CREDIT: Use a campus park as a forum to display your pinwheels and invite your university to rally together on behalf of impoverished Iraqis on the other side of the world.
NOTE: Contact local media (school and city newspapers, TV, etc) to raise awareness for your event.
THE JUSTIFICATION:
In our world today, it often seems that there is not much we can do to staunch the violence and hatred that courses through our world—which makes it all the more important to actually do everything we can when we do have the chance.
Through Pinwheels, you, your student organization and your whole campus can become a megaphone that calls attention to the cries of Iraqi kids and families who don’t have a voice in our communities. Even more, you can call people to real actions that make an immediate difference within the suffering of Iraq. Your generosity will strike a blow for preemptive love over against another generation of prejudice, mistrust and anger.
