Host a party using the pinwheel as a symbol of Iraqi childhood lost and as a hopeful chance for us to give it back. Cook pinwheel wraps, pinwheel shaped cookies, use pinwheel pasta. The pinwheel is a symbol and a talking point as you educate your guests and call them to action.
THE JUSTIFICATION:
Hospitality is the art of being generous to others. We realized that we were missing an entire set of skills in our attempts to mobilize the world to care for these thousands of Iraqi kids dying from heart disease; too sick to even blow a pinwheel.
PInwheels House Parties are a chance for you to cook your dishes, make your decorations, and generally care for others around you. In the process, we hope you’ll speak of the 3,000-known kids in Kurdistan Iraq alone suffering from childhood heart disease. We hope you’ll use your pinwheel spinach wraps, pinwheel pasta, and pinwheel cookies as a way to remind your guests how well we have it - and therefore, the degree to which it is incumbent on us to show our hospitality to the people of Iraq by sending them to hospitals outside the country for life-saving heart surgery.
Everyone likes to get together for a party - but a party with a purpose is that much more meaningful!
