SHAD FARAYDOON MEMORIAL FUND FOR INFANT SURGERIES

In honor of 10 year old Shad Faraydoon Shad's family has established this memorial fund to raise $50,000 for 10 infant surgeries before the end of 2009 because children should not have to wait ten years for surgeries just three hours away. Our goal represents 50% of anticipated costs as a matching fund to our local Iraqi partnerships.

Official Travel Documents

The war and the high number of refugees it has produced has made international travel and obtaining a visa one of the truly prohibitive factors to surgery as an Iraqi. $50 may not be high for you, but for many Iraqi families it is a prohibitive burden.

Followthrough Program

With PLC's Followthrough program we monitor a child's healing and re-entry into their home culture, teach the importance of activity and a balanced diet, and address issues like racism and other radical ideologies. This amount represents the costs of medications, special needs, teaching materials, etc.

Obtaining a passport on short notice for families who have never had the means or reasons to travel outside the country is a critical part of the overall surgery process.

Food for a Month

When a child travels outside the country for surgery, they don't have the blessing of free home-cooked casseroles brought to them by loving friends and family. $250 pays for a month's food for them while they are away.

Airfare for a child and a parent from Iraq to Turkey is among the many prohibitive costs of obtaining a surgery for many Iraqi families. Buy an airline ticket and get a child on their way to surgery today!
