We’re Launching The #1 Surgical Training Program In All Of Iraq!
July 26, 2012 by Cody · Leave a Comment

It seems fitting that all of this starts with a little boy named Haydar.
Haydar means “lion” in Arabic and when the local doctors in Nasiriyah, Iraq sent us a list of 500 children that they wanted to save during the Remedy Fellowship, Haydar was sitting at the top of the list.
And so the #1 surgical training program in all of Iraq—Remedy Fellowship—is set to begin in just a few hours with a lifesaving operation for Haydar!
Haydar will be followed by hundreds more in the coming months as the Remedy Fellowship provides 47 weeks of lifesaving surgery and training to doctors and nurses from all over Iraq.
But before we begin by saving Haydar, I want to thank you, because I know that all of this began with you.
It began with us telling you how we have the incredible opportunity to partner with Iraq and save hundreds of lives while giving the Nasiriyah Heart Center their best chance at becoming a sustainable and enduring local solution for children all over Iraq who have been born with heart defects.
Then you joined us. You donated your hard-earned money and you used your voice to ensure that the people of Iraq were given this opportunity.
And it worked—you’ve given us everything we need to launch the Fellowship today!
It’s made all the difference for Haydar.
Thank you!

Healthy Danar Can Now Experience New Life Because of His Lifesaving Heart Surgery
July 7, 2010 by Esther · Comments Off
from Preemptive Love on Vimeo.
Since, his surgery in January, Danar has steadily regained his strength and has begun to have new life.
Danar is one of nearly 50 children who have undergone surgery with PLC. And it is because of your donations that he can run, laugh and share life with his family.
You can continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of children like Danar by donating to our Remedy Mission — two weeks of partnering local doctors with international surgeons to provide 30 local heart surgeries for Iraqi children.
And we encourage you to share that spirit of making a difference with others — creating a ripple of change amid your family, friends and co-workers in your circles of influence. By giving through Remedy Mission, buying Klash from our Buy Shoes. Save Lives. program, or creatively partnering with PLC to find new ways of providing these heart surgeries, you can show your community a glimpse of peace and hope in Iraq as it becomes reality for children like Danar.

Photo of the Day: Baroof is All Smiles After Surgery

It’s possible that you had to know Baroof before his life-saving heart surgery for his rare heart condition to appreciate the joy in his step these last few days. When we met him, he was scared and downcast – being old enough to understand what was at stake if he didn’t get the heart surgery he needed.
But now – thanks to you! – Baroof is joyful, full of hope, and full of hugs and kisses to boot!

Anonymous Donor Partially Funds Two Children for Buy Shoes. Save Lives.

Hedi, 8 months old
Thanks to an anonymous gift directly to our partner organization on behalf of Buy Shoes. Save Lives., Hedi will be able to have the operation he needs to fix the hole between the ventricles of his heart. Your advocacy among your friends is apparently working! Keep it up!
Hussein, 3 years old
Hussein is from one of the few Arab (non-Kurdish) families who made it safely to the October screening. Doctors singled him out as urgent, as he periodically runs out of breath and cries. Our partners at Brothers Together took him across the Jordan River Monday with Hedi (above), and thanks to an anonymous gift on behalf of Buy Shoes. Save Lives., his sponsorship was completed at three minutes to midnight the same day!
Kids Shoes?

When you say “kids shoes,” what sizes do you have in mind? Do you mean middle schoolers, or toddlers?
We could certainly put kids shoes for sale – they hand-make them just like everything else. Let us know exactly what sizes interest you and we’ll do some research as to what we could do.
If nothing else, let us just say ‘thanks’ for your interest and willingness to make this a family attempt to serve and help Iraqi people. It’s really a beautiful thing for us to witness…
