A few minutes ago, Alaa was carefully lifted from the operating room table over to his ICU bed.
Right now the surgeons and the entire ICU nursing team are gathered around and charting Alaa’s road to recovery. His chest is closed, but there is still a lot happening inside him that needs to be closely monitored.
Performing surgeries like Alaa’s is extremely complicated, but making sure the recovery continues in the ICU can be just as complicated.
