Did you know Baghdad was once known as the City of Peace? It seems an unlikely nickname after decades of violence, but this is what people called it for centuries.
The residents of Baghdad have not given up this name for the city they love, nor have they lost their imagination—there is still hope that Baghdad will be able to claim it’s name proudly! This year’s City of Peace Festival continued on despite recent bombings in the city.
Hope beat out darkness; love won.
