Jeremy Courtney

Director

Jeremy began writing business plans for fun as a junior in college. In 2003 Jeremy and his wife moved to Istanbul, Turkey in hopes of launching one (or more) of these business plans. But doing business cross-culturally and internationally proved to be far more difficult in real life than it was on paper. After a few ditched efforts at social entrepreneurship in Istanbul and south-eastern Turkey, Jeremy was encouraged to pursue a few of his ideas by friends in northern Iraq. A full-time day job with an international relief and development organization gave him his first taste of success in marketing, messaging, fundraising, and seeing people’s lives positively transformed by social programs. It was in this context of success (and not a little failure) that the ideas for Buy Shoes. Save Lives. and the Preemptive Love Coalition were ultimately formed (ironically, without a business plan).
