Preemptive Love’s Summer Internship aims to provide an opportunity for college students and recent graduates to learn and make tangible contributions to ending war. Through this immersive experience, interns will learn about cross-cultural living, humanitarian service, peacemaking, and our work as a non-governmental organization. Valued as essential partners to Preemptive Love, interns will be given tasks that genuinely add to our work. Interns will be challenged to grow and develop professionally, press into pain, and show transformational love in a culture different than their own. Interns will contribute to their own experience to make it enlightening and valuable, while not shying away from the confusing, frustrating, and sometimes overwhelming challenges they will face. In short, our goal for our summer interns is to experience life in Iraq in its fullest as we show up daily and love anyway.
Two interns will host an immersive summer English camp for Yazidi children displaced to Sulaymaniyah, and an additional two interns will teach English to young adults living in refugee camps. Both positions will require extensive and knowledgeable lesson planning and preparation to create an engaging, fun, and successful learning environment. While demanding of time and energy, an upbeat and positive attitude is crucial.

This intern will help us get Preemptive Love's digital house organized by renaming and filing images, tagging images in Box, sorting the video collection, transcribing audio, and assisting the team as needed. This intern will help to run the daily tasks of the office and interns, as well as assist our VP of International Programs with various administrative tasks and projects. The Office Assistant will manage, distribute, and collect weekly intern finances and assist the Intern Coordinator as needed.
One intern will assist the Sisterhood Collection team in the development of our online and local shops of refugee-made goods. Responsibilities may include working in our Maker Space, organizing shipments of products to the US, and designing materials for local events and sales. *Portfolio required to apply.
One intern will work in our community garden located in a Syrian refugee camp. We are looking for a multifaceted individual with the right combination of knowledge, experience, initiative, and the willingness to learn and work hard.
